Trainings for students and staff are given paramount importance at Jyothi Engineering College.

Training activities for students include regular PAT class hours for practice of communication skills, group discussions, debate sessions, resume preparation, mock interviews and the like. The students are also given pre-placement trainings from external trainers as well. Language Lab and Business English Cambridge (BEC) Certification Trainings are leveraged to hone communication skills.

The comprehensive training plan for the students from S1 to S8 can be found here.

Apart from the numerous workshops, trainings and Faculty Development Programs (FDP) conducted for staff members at each and every department, an annual FDP from PAT office is conducted to sharpen the axe and expand perspectives. This FDP is conducted at the beginning of every academic year. Details of the recently conducted FDP can be found here.

Internships are a proven way to gain relevant knowledge, skills, and experience in any field of work. They help network with professionals in the respective field. Internships are also a way to get one's feet wet and find out if a specific field is something an individual would want to pursue as a full-time job/career.

At Jyothi Engineering College, students are encouraged to undertake internships. In the past, students have visited reputed industries in their respective fields of Engineering and have completed internships. There are internships which are provided on-campus for students at Centre for Water Research and Education(Website:cwre.jecc.ac.in) and tbi@jec. Areas of internship are spread across the various branches of Engineering. Plans are on for an inter-disciplinary internship and for throwing open internships for public (students from other colleges and professionals).

LIVLON is an Embedded project which detects a collision, fire on board and drowning (water ingress) using accelerometers, sensors etc. If any accident is detected, the microcontroller gets the location from the GPS module and the GPRS modem sends the location, time, date and vehicle id as a message to a call centre. The call centre personnel then calls back to the car to enquire about the situation. If the person is not in state to take the call, necessary steps are taken by the person at the call centre like calling the nearest ambulance service, police, fire force. This device also has an onboard buzzer that goes on for 15sec in case of an accident and if it is not turned off manually, only then the message will be sent. This provision is provided so that minor accidents which can be handled need not be reported. This device also has an anti theft feature by which you can track your vehicle in case of theft. This device can also be used to monitoring over speeding and alert the driver. This device can be used to trigger automatic fire fighting system in cars.
