About The Department

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in the year 2002 with an intake of 60. Over the years, it has grown by leaps & bounds and the current intake is 180. The department is accredited first in 2016 by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi for three years, re-accredited in 2019 and recently in 2022 accredited for three more years. The department also offers M.Tech Program from 2013, in Computer Science and Engineering with an intake of 6. In 2023, a new batch was started in computer science with specialization in Cyber security. The department is recognized as a research centre by KTU to offer full-time/Part Time Ph.D program.

KTU is providing B.Tech Degree with Minor option for all students for improving their skills in multidisciplinary areas. The student shall earn additional 20 credits to be eligible for the award of a B. Tech Degree with Minor.KTU is also providing B.Tech(Honours) option for all students for improving their skills in their respective disciplines. The student shall earn additional 20 credits to be eligible for the award of a B. Tech (Honours) Degree.Minor and Honour degree options help the students to mould themselves to a T- professionals.

The department has all the necessary infrastructure, highly qualified and experienced faculty for a better teaching learning experience to students .The department is continuously undertaking the research, development and training activities in emerging technologies for students and faculty. The department is collaborating with different Organizations and signed MOU’s with different Software Industries to provide training and undertaking consultancy projects as per the industry demands.

Department currently offers following courses : (1) B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering - 180 intake (2) M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering - 6 intake (3) PhD

Programme Specific Outcomes

On the completion of Computer Science & Engineering program, the students will possess:

1. Apply machine learning models, cloud computing architectures, algorithms, and analytical methods to solve complex computational problems.

2. Design and develop software systems and applications by applying modern engineering tools, cloud and IoT platforms, and AI/ML frameworks to address real-world computational and engineering challenges.

3. Model and design computing applications, employing automate tools to ensure quality, ethical practice, and sustainable societal impact.

Programme Outcomes

Students in the programme at the time of their graduation are expected to possess the following capabilities:

Ability to apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
Ability to Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
Ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
Ability to use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
Ability to create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
Ability to apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
Ability to understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
